History

On March 15, 1927, the country and the city of San Francisco first subleased 150 acres (61 ha) in the current airport. On May 7, 1927 San Francisco International Airport officially named as Mills Field Municipal Airport of exclusive place San Francisco. The land was subleased from the Mills Estate in contract basis which was made with Ogden L. Mills. The name of the airport changed to officially San Francisco Airport in 1931. After the World War II “International” was added as facility rapidly expanded. Century Pacific Lines, Western Air express and Maddux Airlines. The key carrier was United Airlines made in 1934 with Douglas DC-3 facility to New York and Los Angeles. A new famous terminal founded in 1937, made with Public works Administration funding.
